Wizzard Software Provides Thomson Higher Education with AT&T Natural Voices TTS for MP3 Format Textbooks

Wizzard Software announced today that Thomson Higher Education has licensed AT&T Natural Voices(R) for Desktop to create Audiobooks for Sciences, a library of MP3 format textbooks.

Initially skeptical - as always - I was curious as to who these folks are. But it appears they are one of those "behind the curtains" companies that produces stuff that other companies use in their products. However, closer inspection of the press release leaves me unclear what makes these books "accessible" other than the fact that they are being made available in an mp3 format. Also unclear is whether or not the texts are navigatable.

And this statement without explaining 'how' is just plain ridiculous: Visually-impaired students or students with learning disabilities also benefit from the audiobooks. I'll stick with tried and true resources and my in-house DAISY production thank-you-very-much.
